The White Sox were dealt another cruel blow on Thursday, as it was revealed that David Roche, the division's second leading hitter, is out for at least eight weeks with a broken finger. Roche, batting .643 with 11 RBIs, two doubles and one home run, broke his left pinkie playing in an indoor soccer final on Sunday [it could be worse].
This was second injury to hit the White Sox this week. Ashley Denton injured his shoulder on the mound during Sunday's 16-14 loss to the Yankees. Denton is unlikely to be available to pitch for 4-8 weeks. Denton is the division's third-equal best hitter, batting .615, with a double, a triple and 5 stolen bases.
Meanwhile, trade rumours are swirling around Avonhead Park, as Andrew Peasey looks to shore up his squad. While the White Sox await the arrival of shortstop Takashi Inagawa, due back from Japan shortly, their pitching appears quite thin going into their doubleheader on Sunday.
For the record, Roche's team won the soccer game.
