The White Sox pounded out nine hits, including solo home runs by Joshua Batchelor and Ashley Denton, to coast to an 8-2 victory over the Angels in the second game of the doubleheader on Sunday. The win broke the Angels' six game winning streak and prevented them from clinching at least a tie for the first half.

Batchelor (1-2) went the distance giving up just two runs, one earned, on only three hits, while striking out six and walking just four. Batchelor finally found his form from last year, when he went 7-2 with a 6.46 ERA.

Batchelor took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, before Ryota Kadowaki cleanly singled to center. Scott Woyak, making up for an error the previous inning, gunned down Andy Alsop trying to go from first to third on the hit to end the inning.

Sean Callahan (0-1) pitched a complete game for the Angels, but didn't fare as well, giving up the nine hits and eight runs, three earned. Callahan walked four, hit one, while striking out four.

The White Sox built a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth. In the third, Woyak singled, made his usual way to second (after it was opened up for him when Allen Hu got picked off it), went to third on a passed ball then scored when Nick Prince returned a pitch over Callahan's head.

Leading off the top of the fourth, Batchelor blasted a 2-1 Callahan slider to the right-center gap for an easy round-tripper. After a flyout, Denton blasted a fastball just inside the left-field foul pole for another easy home run.

The Angels finally got a run across, albeit unearned, when Woyak couldn't quite run-down Yoshimitsu Fuchigami's blast to straight away center (and graciously took an error to preserve the no-hitter).

The White Sox made it 5-1 in the fifth, as Stephen Phillips doubled with two outs and scored on Batchelor's single. Brandon Batten singled Batchelor to second. A wild pitch and a passed ball brought Batchelor around.

The Angels finally got an earned run, as Prince singled down the right field line and took third when Hu couldn't handle it. Justin Holcroft doubled him home to make it 6-2. A second base-running blunder cost the Angels the potential for a big inning, as Abraham Garza was thrown out trying to advance to third on a ground ball to Andrew Peasey.

The Sox put it away in the seventh, with three unearned runs. Woyak just beat out a bunt, went to second in the usual way, to third when Prince's throw eluded Shogo Yoshihira and scored on Peasey's sac fly. Phillips reached on an error before Callahan drilled Batchelor between the shoulder blades.

Sam Ballinger couldn't handle Brandon Batten's grounder to load the bases for Ashely Denton. After swinging through two Callahan fastballs, Denton got all of a 3-2 one. Trying for a grand slam, he ran up the back of Batten, forcing Batten to try to score. A good relay from Ballinger got Batten at the plate.

Notes: Justin Holcroft's double in the sixth came at a cost, as he pulled a hamstring rounding first and couldn't complete the game. Holcroft is doubtful for the next three weeks. Yoshihira pulled a nifty unassisted double play in the first inning, as Peasey hit a liner to him at second and he doubled Woyak off second. Comments from the sidelines questioned whether he caught the ball cleanly.
