The Blues finally got one in the 'W' column, defeating the Greys 8-5 in the first game of the Sunday doubleheader. Chad Denny went the distance, striking out nine, and helped himself with an RBI double. Chris Ballinger took the loss.

The Blues jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, as Jason Drost made a rare error in right field on Scott Woyak's pop fly. Nicholas Batchelor doubled Woyak home, while Sean Callahan singled Denny home.

The Greys came right back, as Joshua Batchelor drove a ball to right that Andy Alsop couldn't corral for a two-run home run.

The Blues extended their lead to 5-2 with single runs in the second, third and fourth innings.

On defense, the Blues tightened it up, as Woyak ran down Justin Holcroft's gapper to save a run. The Greys did push across one run in the bottom of the fourth on Tony Haerewa's double.

The Blues opened it up with three in the top of the sixth. Chad Denny tripled home Nick Prince and scored on a passed ball. Callahan walked, stole second and scored on an errant pick off.

The Greys pulled back two in the bottom of the sixth on Holcroft's RBI single and Kunio Kamiya's sacrifice fly.

They threatened again in the bottom of the seventh, getting the tying run to the plate with two outs, but Prince threw out Josh Batchelor trying to steal third to end the game.

Notes: Tak Inagawa vied for the play of the game, diving into the hole to take a hit away from Prince in the top of the first.
