Who Says You Can't Come Back?
Canterbury Baseball Club
by Sean Callahan 24 January 2007

Trying to disprove the theory that you can never go back, Max Hookway returns to Canterbury to try to resurrect his baseball career.

Hookway, traded to the UK in August of 2004 after Canterbury's debut season, looks to re-gain the form that saw him in the lead for the batting title going into the final week, before narrowly losing out to latecomer Scott Woyak.

Hookway, who moonlights as a radiographer, has taken time off from baseball while in the UK. With hopes of picking up a contract riding on his performance, Canterbury managers will be watching him closely to see if his batting resembles the .586 hitter in the debut season or the .227 hitter of the winter league.

Depending on circumstances, he may try to his hand on the mound, where potential teams can see if he resembles the 17.18 ERA pitcher or the 5.74 ERA pitcher.

Hookway is in Christchurch the weekend of the 3rd/4th of February and available to play for any team that needs him.
