Canterbury Baseball Club

The Baseball New Zealand U14 squad took top honours in an Australian tournament for the very first time. New Zealand’s history-making victory over six Australian all-star teams occurred at the 2009 Kempsey NSW Regional Championships, which began Saturday, 10 January. The U14 team won 5 of 6 games in normal tournament play to finish as the top seed before prevailing in a thrilling 2-0 final over Western Australia on 17 January.
The team was made up of players from the Auckland Region’s Central City, Howick-Pakuranga and West City Baseball Clubs and from the South Island’s Canterbury Baseball Club. Matthew Boyce and Dion Hodgetts participating from Canterbury.
